Rare 19th Century Prussian Hand-Painted Porcelain With Mercury Gold Pedestal Vase In The Neoclassical Style

Large hand-painted porcelain pedestal or mantle vase fashioned in the neoclassical style by Carl Tielsch & Co. Porcelain Manufactury in Silesia (Prussia/Poland), circa 1870. The main tapered panel of the vase is an exquisitely hand-painted cycloramic depiction of greater and lesser flamingos, a male ostrich and a male grey crowned crane -- all shown in their natural South African habitats. A neoclassical frieze adorns the top and bottom border of the painted area as well as the top of the pedestal base. The top and bottom of the vase is decorated with wide bands of mercury gold. The underside of the pedestal reveals both marks of the Carl Tielsch factory.
